Aquaculture research using deep water

Toyama Station, Aquaculture Research Institute

The Toyama Station, Aquaculture Research Institute was set up to research aquaculture of temperate and cold-water fish species. Since first opening, they have been studying aquaculture using seawater from depths of 100 m.

The laboratory also operates the Toyama Aquaculture and Science Center in cooperation with the local Horioka Fish Farming Cooperative, which is working to industrialize fish faming technologies.

Acsess From JR Osaka Station, take the limited express to JR Takaoka Station (approx. 3 hours). Change to the Manyosen city tram line headed for Koshinokata, and get off after approx. 40 minutes at Koshinokata. From there, the laboratory is a 5-minute ferry journey plus a 5-minute walk away.
